We won a subscription to ScienceFlixScienceFlix combines curriculum-driven resources, interactive features, and an easy to use interface for students in grades 4 through 9. Read information about science topics, watch videos, create projects, take quizzes and more.  You can also get information on creating science experiments and careers in science.  Information provided includes citations and lexile numbers. You will need a library card from the Town of Ballston Community Library (begins with 10007).

Preschool Programs

Fall Session 2 October 13 – November 21
Baby Bookworms
Tuesdays at 9:30 AM & Fridays at 9:30 AM
We will share simple stories, songs and finger plays as well as activities using music and movement.  For children birth to 23 months with a caregiver; sibling are welcome. *Registration required.  Please note you are registering for the entire session, attendance each week is appreciated but not required. 

Family Story Time
Wednesdays at 10:30 AM & Fridays at 10:30 AM
Join us while we read books, sing, do finger plays and movement activities to promote early literacy.  This program is designed for two and three-year-olds accompanied by a caregiver.  This is a drop-in program and siblings are welcome.

Preschool Story Time
Thursdays at 9:30 AM
Share early literacy skills with your child at this 30 minute program which includes a craft.  For children ages 3, 4, or 5 who are accompanied by a caregiver.  Registration is required and siblings are welcome.  Please note you are registering for the entire session, attendance each week is appreciated but not required.

Art & Movement
Tuesdays at 10:30 AM
Explore your world through movement and creative activities at this thirty-minute program. For children ages two to five accompanied by a caregiver. This is a drop-in program and siblings are welcome.

Scribbles & Tales
Monday, October 27 at 4:00 PM
Listen to stories and do crafts!  This is an inclusive program for children of all levels of ability in Grades K-2.  *Registration required


December:

Music Medley
Tuesdays at 10:30 AM
Join us for a family style sing along led by our favorite musician Miss Terri! This 30 minute sing-along is for preschoolers of all ages.  This is a drop in program and siblings, parents, grandparents and friends are welcome!

Reptile Adventures

Wednesday, November 12 at 1:30 PM
Reptile Adventures is an overview of reptiles and amphibians; we explain what makes a reptile a reptile, and how different reptiles live in their native ecosystems. We have a variety of animals from all over the globe and from many habitats. Topics include what the animals eat, how they find their food, how they avoid predators, and what related animals can be found in New York (We do have a few native NY animals). Every Reptile Adventure presentation involves allowing audience members to touch and feel the animals. We are also more than happy to allow students to line up for photos. At least one animal, usually a turtle or lizard, will be fed either insect prey or fruit.  For grades K-5.  *Registration Required.

Read To Leela

Thursday, November 13 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Leela is a certified therapy dog who is happy to sit quietly and listen appreciatively to any story you wish to read.  This is a drop in program for all ages.


City by Design

Thursday, November 13 1:30 PM—3:15 PM
The Saratoga Children’s Museum is coming to the Library!  During this popular program, participants individually design and create a building using recyclables and then come together to make a city! Using our large floor map participants become city planners, as they place their buildings with thought and learn about the four main building zones: residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial.  For Grades K-5.  *Registration Required.

Dancing To Stories

Monday, November 17 at 1:30 PM
Children will use their imaginations to dance to stories. We will also make a group story and dance it out.  For Grades K-2.  *Registration Required.

VolunTeens—VolunTeens are an important part of the library. Students in grades 6-12 have the opportunity to be VolunTeens and earn community service hours. Burnt Hills Teen Reading Club
The Town of Ballston Community Library’s virtual book discussion group for tweens and teens, grades 6 – 12. Open to anyone who would like to join. Find us on Goodreads.com. Enjoy book discussions, trivia and raffles.

The Town of Ballston Community Library provides programming for all ages. All programs are free of charge. Certain programs require registration and may have age or space requirements. Registered participants must meet the age requirements for the program but siblings are always welcome.

Registering For Programs: To register for a program please stop at the Library’s circulation desk or call 399-8174 ext. 2. For our Preschool Programs you are registering for the entire session. Attendance each week is appreciated but not required.

Weather Delays: If the weather is bad, calling before you visit the Library is a good idea. When Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake cancels classes we cancel our programs. Please call ahead or check our website.

Food Allergy Alert (FAA): Please be aware a number of our programs serve refreshments or involve food. Contact Youth Services with questions before registering or attending.
