Mary Sanders Shartle will lead a Memoir Writing Workshop at the Town of Ballston Community Library in Burnt Hills on 5 Thursdays: March 13, 20, and 27, and April 3 and 10, from 1-3 PM in the library community room. The program is free and open to the public, but registration is required. This program is made possible by a gift from Fred and Helen Baum.
This workshop is designed to help participants begin, or continue, the work of recording family stories to pass them down to future generations. Participants should bring a pen or pencil and paper or a journal.
Mary Shartle will act as a writing facilitator to the group, making suggestions and encouraging participants to share their work. The workshop will include simple and fun in-class exercises. Says Shartle, “Leave the most important legacy you can - your own indelible voice written down, expressing your hopes, dreams, and values.”
Mary Shartle is director of the Saratoga Poetry Zone and is a published poet and writer. She was recently honored with the 2006 Adirondack Literary Award for Poetry.
